Core Prepositions
- toto — destination reached: walk to the station
- towardstowards — direction (not necessarily reaching): move towards the exit
- throughthrough — from one side to the other inside: run through a tunnel
- acrossacross — over a flat surface: swim across the river
More Patterns
- into / out of: walk into the building · rush out of the room
- along: walk along the riverbank (following a line)
- past: drive past the school (moving by without stopping)
- up / down: climb up the hill · walk down the stairs
Common Mistakes
- ❌ across the tunnel → ✅ through (enclosed space = through, not across)
- ❌ He entered into the room → ✅ He entered the room / walked into the room
- ❌ to towards → only one: either to or towards
