Use everyone, nobody, something, each, either, and neither with singular or plural verbs following the rules.
Always Singular
- every-everyone, everybody, everything + singular verb
- some-someone, somebody, something + singular verb
- any-anyone, anybody, anything + singular verb
- no-no one, nobody, nothing + singular verb
Possessive Reference
- Formal: Everyone should bring his or her own equipment.
- Inclusive/modern: Everyone should bring their own equipment. (widely accepted)
- Agree in number: Everyone has submitted their assignment ✅
- Avoid: Everyone has submitted their assignments — plural noun inconsistency.
Common Mistakes
- ❌ Everyone have finished → ✅ Everyone has finished
- ❌ Nobody were there → ✅ Nobody was there
- ❌ Something are wrong → ✅ Something is wrong
