Overview

The zero article means using NO article before a noun. It is used with: plural countable nouns in general statements (Dogs are loyal), uncountable nouns in general statements (Water is essential), most proper nouns (Paris, Shakespeare, Monday), languages and school subjects (She studies French), meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), transport after 'by' (by car, by train), and many fixed expressions (go to school, at home, in bed).
