Overview
The present simple tense is used to describe habits, routines, permanent situations, and general truths. It is formed with the base verb (I work) or base verb + -s/-es for he/she/it (she works). It is one of the most frequently used tenses in English.
Forms

- –don't / doesn't + base verb
- ?Do / Does + subject + base verb?
- ✓Yes, I do. / No, he doesn't.
3rd-Person Spelling
- Most verbs: add -s → plays, reads
- -s/-sh/-ch/-x/-o: add -es → goes, watches
- Consonant + y: -y → -ies → studies, carries
