Overview

Adverbs modify verbs (She spoke quickly), adjectives (very tall), other adverbs (quite slowly), or whole sentences (Unfortunately, we lost). They answer questions of how, when, where, how often, and to what degree. Most adverbs of manner are formed by adding -ly to an adjective.

  • FrequencyHow often? always, usually, often, sometimes, never
  • DegreeHow much? very, quite, too, enough, extremely
