Overview

Advice in reported speech uses advise/recommend/urge + object + to-infinitive. Example: 'You should see a doctor' → She advised me to see a doctor. 'Recommend' can also take recommend + -ing or recommend that-clause. The reporting verb choice reflects the strength of the advice.
